The one that I just finished would probably be a "no-brainer" to most, but it was the first time that I actually dismantled all the cushions and saved the pieces for a pattern. Thankfully, I happened upon Brooke's blog and she had a wonderful tutorial. Her chair was almost identical to mine and having pictures to follow made this process so much simpler! THANKS Brooke!
The absolute worst part about this job was removing the
Like I stated previously, the plan was to make these chairs totally RETRO...bright colors, etc. Sooooooo did not do that! I stumbled upon this fabric before finding anything else that I liked so I decided to build a room around it...a guest bedroom. The before and after pictures were taken in my entry way, because that "said" guest room is being occupied by my daughter Kelli, while she looks for a house to buy.
Anyhoo, to refresh your memory of how the chairs looked before (and let's not forget how much these cuties cost...2 for $21.00)
And after: (ignore the little things you see hanging from the bottom, I have not replaced the stuff on the bottom that covers my craftsmanship, lol)
Cost breakdown:
Chair $10.50
Paint 8.00
Fabric 22.00
Cording 6.00
Total $46.50
Not too shabby, huh?!
Got lots of cookies to bake...have a great weekend!

This looks so great! Everyone's chairs turn out SO differently, I love it! So did you use the same piping too or buy new stuff? That seemed to be the trickiest part for me.

ReplyDeleteYou did a wonderful job! It looks like something from a high end store. I love the fabric. It looks gorgeous on the back especially! What is the name of the fabric and where did you find it? (We all want to know!) Also, what is the paint color and brand?
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you ended up choosing the fabric that you did. It totally makes the chair. You'd never know that this was the first time doing this kind of a makeover!
ReplyDeleteThis chair make over is amazing! I love the fabric you choose! Hobby Lobby has lamps with a similar shade too.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully done! I've got a lampshade from Ballard Designs in that fabric. I know they sell that Document Brown fabric by the yard at Ballard for $24...
