Halloween cookies and my latest ABC Project!

I was itching to try out some of my new Halloween cookie cutters, and while typically I would wait till at least Oct. 1st, I was bored so why not just make them now, right?

As it turns out, one of my favorites is the "fangs" and I realize now that you can't even see them in the picture!  The spider web was also fun to make...and super easy.  Love those little Wilton "spiders" that I picked up at Michaels...saves me the work of making my own.  So whatcha' think?  I did send a little "sample" box to one of my blog "lurkers" who will at this time, remain nameless.  Check your mailboxes...should be delivered on Saturday!

The temps are finally dropping here so I have been able to work on some of my ABC Projects (Anything But Cookies, for you newbies).  If you remember, I posted a picture of this little table in the last week or two.  If not, I will refresh your memory:

I purchased it from Restore for a whopping $5...you cannot go wrong for that price, right?!  Well, sometimes shit stuff happens and you end up with a problem like this:

Uhhh...ruh roh!  All I did was take the drawer out to remove the knobs and it literally fell apart.  No worries...nothing a little wood glue and wood putty couldn't fix.  You can't really tell in the pic, but in the left, lower left hand side, there was a corner completely missing...I am not sure if it was like this when I bought it, or if it happened when it fell apart in my hands, but it was something that I had to address or I had just wasted my precious $5.  That is where the wood putty comes in...I had to "rebuild" the corner...aaaahhhhhh, good as new.  You would never even know it was a problem in the first place!

Okay, so the top is sanded and stained (twice, because I messed up polyurethane the first time...I was NOT a happy camper), the drawer knobs were removed and repainted Oil Bronze and the drawer itself was repaired...it was time for paint.  I decided on a little sample "oops" paint that I got at Lowe's for $1...it was tan but there was no name on it (hence the "oops", I guess).  I decided it needed something else, so instead of distressing...I decided to glaze it.  I definitely stepped outside my comfort zone on this one...I haven't done much glazing in the past.  I purchased one of Martha Stewart's Metallic Glazes in "Muscavado", it was $5.50, and I am pretty sure this little container will do about 100 projects...who knew glaze could go so far.

VOILA...done!

Oh, and I forgot to mention that I added the "faux" postage mark.

Whatcha' think?  I think she turned out pretty cute!

I hope to have my little "tulle" project done and posted by Monday, so please be patient, Melanie!

Till then...Happy Baking!
