But before I go any further I must tell you about my latest "shout out". For those that are not familiar with The CSI Project, you should check it out! They have weekly "themed" challenges that you can submit your creations to. After the first of the year, they wanted you to submit your favorite project of 2012...well, for me that was a no-brainer! Hands down, my fave was this:
Well, they must have liked it too, because it did make it to one of their "Top 10" picks! No, I didn't win anything, but sometimes recognition is enough! This still makes me smile whenever I walk in to Kelli's house!
Okay, enough of me patting myself on the back...how about some cookies?!
Corie wanted pirate cookies for her son, Liam's, second birthday. She sent me a picture of some cupcake toppers that she had purchased off of ETSY. They were red, black and white so I continued the same color combination with the cookies. This is what I came up with:
Whatch'a think? Kind of cute, huh?! The pirate map number "2's" were just something that came to mind, so I threw a few of those in to go with the rest of the collection...I was pleased at how they turned out.
Hope you had a great birthday, Liam...thanks, Corie!
I have also started doing a little decorating for Valentine's Day. I certainly don't go all out...in fact, it is primarily all located in one spot. That spot happens to be my family room mantel, but if you think back a ways, you might remember that I was in search of a big clock for above that mantel. So far it is still blank, but I am happy to say that I finally saw one at Z Gallery that I may go back and buy. To be honest, I am sick of looking, so I am finding myself, less picky. That's not to say that I don't like the one I found, but this process is becoming a thorn in my side and I just want to get it done already!
I will, however, share my little candy centerpiece. If you were around a couple of Halloween's ago, you will remember this little baby:
I STILL to this day, see this arrangement floating around Pinterest! I am in awe of how many times it has been pinned and repinned! It was pretty stinkin' cute though, right?!
Now I will share my Valentine's Day version. Sadly, the only "peeps" that I have found for this holiday is hearts...and they are not even good hearts! I tried to make them work in this arrangement but to no avail...I finally just left them out completely. This is what I came up with:
Not quite as exciting, but still cute! The only red flowers I could find that day were carnations...I definitely could have used another bouquet of them. Not to mention that my flower arranging skills,
Speaking of Valentine's Day...if anyone needs a fun little gift for their "Sweetie"...let me know! I put together a super cute "Ooh la la" Cookie Gift Box! Just click on the "Contact Me" button in my sidebar!
Till next time....
There's a skinny girl who lives inside of me that's screaming to get out...I can usually shut her up with cookies!
I love the map cookies, just adorable!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on making CSI's top 10 pick! What an honor. Honestly, I am not sure I could have given it to Kelli. I would have wanted to keep it for myself. Oh, and I get the whole clock thing...I too have gotten something in my head and can't seem to find it and you just get tired of looking. It's frustrating cuz you wonder where in the heck does everyone else find this stuff. I too have a clock over my mantel but it's not truly what I wanted. My house is so tiny, I wouldn't have room for a large one anyway.Looking at your kitchen pictures I think I could fit most of my house just in your kitchen! Your vases are adorable. Now where's the valentine cookies?
ReplyDeleteyay for top 10! :) boo for wasting all that great candy! lol even though I do love the arrangement.
ReplyDeleteoh so cute cookies! love the map 2's.
