As good as done!

With the exception of a few little details to the room (and a few more to the adjoining bathroom) my second guestroom is done!  If you remember, I recently (well, I guess it's been a whole year ago...where does the time go?!) redid my other guestroom.  I would say that room had more of a "beachy" theme, although I did not really intend for it to be that way at all...it t just sort of evolved!

Before we start our little tour I have to tell you...EVERYTHING in both of these rooms, with the exception of the bedding and a few chachkies, were repurposed.  I did not have that intention when I started out, but as I got further into both projects, it became a challenge to complete them with all refinished pieces. 

Anyhoo, this was my inspiration for room #2:

I drooled over these colors from the minute I saw this.  I mean, if that doesn't make you want to crawl right into bed, I don't know what would!  Sadly, I have still not found coral sheets for my room...the only ones I have seen were about $200...and as much as I love having guests...they are not going to have nicer sheets than me...nope, not goin' to happen!

The furniture was inspired by this:

Ya gotta love Pinterest, right?!  I fell in love with the two-tone look!  

You might remember the set I bought at an estate sale for around $250:

If think it looks a little "funky"...you would be right.  Apparently the owner had the intentions of painting it to look like it was "stained".  In this picture it looks like she almost pulled it off...in real life, not so much!  Fun fact:  I just found out within the last few days that this style of furniture has a name...Hepplewhite.  And, from what I understand, it is called that for the oval pulls on the furniture, not the furniture itself.  Who knew?!

Here is what the pieces look like now:

I used Annie Sloan "Coco" for the "pulls" and the pieces themselves and "Old White" for the drawers.  Shabbied them up a bit and VOILA!

There is actually a mirror that came with this set as well, but because I think all guests enjoy a little TV, I did not use it above the dresser.  The reflection of the back of the TV would have driven me NUTS, so sadly it is out in the garage.  The tulip picture may look familiar...it is actually an old IKEA piece that I picked up at the Salvation Army for about $10.  The vintage typewriter is also an Estate Sale find.  Does the chair look familiar?  It was one of the very first pieces that I recovered...you can get a better look here.

How about that cute pillow on the chair...did you know that Lowes, of all places has a huge selection of pillow covers and inserts?

Look at all the designs to choose from.  And how nice of them to have the inserts right there to save yourself a trip to JoAnns.  Total cost, about $14!

Please pardon the poor lighting in some of these pictures.  I had to take this one when the sun was going down to get a decent picture of the curtains and valance.

  
I had made the valance for the last decor, so all I had to do was recover it.  I needed curtains because although there is a shade underneath, I like it open to let light in.  Unfortunately, on the other side of this curtain is the top of my neighbors trampoline and our ugly pool equipment.  The curtain definitely softens the blow!  It took me forever to find the right shade of curtains, but there again, Lowes to the rescue...seriously LOVE that store!  The mirror on the right is also an estate sale find...not sure if it is staying, but it fills the hole for now!

The stool/bench, actually came with another set of furniture that is waiting to be refinished in my garage, but I loved the pop of  color that it gave the foot of the bed.  The little dresser which I am using as a nightstand was also purchased at an estate sale...can you tell I loves me some estate sales?!  You can see it's transformation here.  Funky little phone on the nightstand...yep, you guessed it, estate sale!

How about that little rug?  I picked up three of those (other two in adjoining bathroom) from another favorite store, Home Goods.  They are Tommy Bahama's that were super cheap!

That's about it.  Whatcha' think?  If you couldn't crawl into my inspiration bed...would you want to crawl into this one?  I sure hope so!

Let's be real...most likely there won't be a bottle of wine and glasses sitting on one of Polly's trays, when you get here, but there could be...
