A simple reveal~

As far as makeovers go, this one was pretty easy!

 Remember this little jewel:

It was a "hot mess", to say the least:  Not only was it laminate, but it was laminate with issues.

I sanded the top down as best I could, and sprayed it with primer, but you could still see those stubborn "blemishes".  This is going in Kelli's master bath and her color scheme is gray, coral and navy...she told me to "surprise" her with color for the cabinet.  I decided that the room could use more navy AND I was hoping it would hide the imperfections a little better.  I used a $3 Valspar sample size.  I painted the knobs with Rustoleum Brushed Nickel.

This is what the cabinet looks like now (sorry for the poor staging, it is just leaning against my laundry room wall).

If I am being completely honest, I will say that is looks a little better in the photo than it actually does "up close and personal".  I should have taken a picture of how the top looked (I already sent it home with her), but I figure once it gets hung on the wall, you will probably not even be able to see it very well.

Remember the shape of the inside:

Yep...pretty gnarly!  I took the old back off and replaced it with a leftover piece of bead board from Kelli's island.  I only had a small piece so I did have to run the bead board the opposite direction to make it fit...a small price to pay to keep me from buying something else!

Quite a difference, huh?  I primed the inside, but decided to leave it white.  I edged it out, so that you would not see the white from the outside of the cabinet.  I just felt that having it navy, would be like looking for things in a deep dark hole!

Not bad for a total investment of about $15.  And because every diva needs a place to put her nail polish, I threw some navy paint on this $1 spice rack that I bought eons ago!

On a side note...thanks to those of you that gave me some suggestions for my vintage tool box!  I should have included the dimensions of it in my original blog post because I think it is actually bigger than it may look in the photo.  It's actual size is 33 inches long by 23 inches wide...the height is about 2 feet!  So obviously a little too big for the suggested bill center, but it just might work for a gift wrap station...something to consider, should I decide to keep it!

Till next time...have a great weekend!

  4. You amaze me. I would have opened the doors, saw the shape it was in and tossed it back into the junk pile.
