I have had multiple people ask me about this:
Now, if you don't decorate cookies, I'm sure you are wondering, "What the
Back in the day, it would not be uncommon to see several cups or glasses on my kitchen counter that held upside down bottles of icing. Needless to say...this drove the Type A personality in me, NUTS! Since there was nothing on the market that solved this issue for me, I decided to build it myself!
Being a self-proclaimed "Jack of all trades, master at NONE", I will tell you straight up...it ain't perfect! Guys would probably say, "Of course it isn't...it's built by a woman!"...and they just might be right about this one!
Doesn't matter...it solved the issue I was out to solve and who cares if it isn't perfect!
Here is a picture of my set up:
It holds nine bottles...why nine, you ask? Just cuz'!
There are holes to hold a scribe tool and a "boo-boo" stick. It is stained and several coats of "poly" are applied so that after each use, you can just rinse it under warm water and dry it off...ready for the next time!
This is what it looks like from this angle:
Having the bottles upside down definitely solves the issue of good icing flow, but it is also a necessity to keep the tips moist so that the icing does not dry out. I buy my sponges from the Dollar Store and use them EXCLUSIVELY for this purpose. I clean/sanitize them after each use and after a few uses, I toss them.
Here is another way to do it:
A damp paper towel over the sponges, keeps the paper towel just moist enough to keep your bottles from drying out! Just toss the paper towel and rinse out the sponges...easy peasy!
I purchased the plastic container at Bed, Bath and Beyond, and actually built the caddy to fit perfectly over the container. And because I love ya more than my luggage, I am going to include a plastic container with this giveaway as well!
I even made a cute little one that sits next to my KopyKake that is located in my craft room!
Basically that's it! In a perfect world, this would be made out of acrylic, but I only know "wood", so for now, that's what I'm going with.
I'm giving one away to anyone who may want to give it a try! If there is enough interest, I may even give away TWO!
I'm making it simple!! I'm not even going to make you follow me...just leave a comment telling me how you found out about this Giveway...i.e. you already follow my blog, Instagram, someone else told you...whatever!
I will draw a winner on Monday, June 9th, so be sure to check back! I will post winner both here AND on Instagram. If prize is not claimed, I will draw a new winner!
Good luck!
Honestly, I found you by searching for fun giveaways! This looks great!
ReplyDeleteFound on Instagram! Looks like an amazing solution, hope I can try it out.
ReplyDeleteI found it because I follow you on IG! I love the way you made these. I've been waiting one for a long time, because I don't use bottles as much as I want to, I hate shaking the icing back down and getting more air bubbles. I've been trying to think of a way to keep the bottle like this, kudos to you for making it! 👏👏👏
