In the past few days I have been busy making Easter cookies. Three of these went out yesterday:
I can't say who the boxes went to, just in case any of the recipients pop into blog, but I hope they enjoy them!
This past weekend I went to my first ever Estate Sale. Now, if you have never been, I have to tell you...it was sort of a strange feeling. I mean, it would be like someone walked into your house and put a price tag on EVERYTHING, just exactly as it sits. They even had a price on 1/2 used bottle of vanilla...I passed, however I did pick up these two items. I should back up and say that I went on Saturday...only because I had not seen the signs sooner and it was 1/2 off day! From what I understand now, estate sales, when run by outsiders, are typically priced rather high. Maybe that is why there was still so much stuff in this house.
Anyhoo, I picked up this cute little secretary...isn't it the best conversation piece EVER?!
It has a little skeleton key (I was also given the keyhole "plate" that needs to be reattached). I don't know how old it actually is, but it is solid wood, and it even has these cool removable velvet drawer liners. I have not decided what exactly, I am going to do with...I thought I might redo it for one of my guestrooms...Melissa thinks I should consider redoing it and selling it. Sadly, it will probably be a while for either...the temperatures are rising here and if I have learned anything about painting in the last year, it is that you will not get a good paint job, if it is too hot!
My other find was this cute little table and chairs:
As kids tables go, this one is very good size! It is super sturdy and the chairs are big enough that even Thomas at five years old, can sit on them. I have not decided if I will be refinishing this to keep at "Nana's" house or what, but I do know that I might have enough time to get this done sooner!
Needless to say, I am now obsessed with Estate sales, so much so, that Melissa and I are going to hit a couple tomorrow. It will be the first day for both, so I really don't know what to expect...probably chaos and FULL PRICE items!
Don't forget, I still have Cinco de Mayo cookies to share...I will post those in the next few days...they make me want to throw a "fiesta"!
Till then...happy baking~
There's a skinny girl who lives inside of me that's screaming to get out...I can usually shut her up with cookies!
