So many cookies...

...so little time!  It makes me wonder how I am going to get everything done!  I typically say that every year, but this year I have taken on a few more orders than I have in the past.  Me thinks I may be decorating my house for Christmas, on Thanksgiving...something just not quite right about that!  I will most likely be baking some cookies too, for orders that need to be done on Saturday!

I just completed two sets of these:

These were my first Christmas cookies of the year.  A co-worker of Kelli's wanted the cookies to photograph for a flyer she was making.

Beautiful photography work, don't you think?

Sometimes us "cookiers" have to think outside the box!  Others are much better at this than I am.  Occasionally, I can visualize one cookie cutter as something else completely...but that is a rare occurrence!

I did have a "light bulb" moment to get this one to work for me:

Which way do you think it goes?  Check back in a couple days to see the completed cookie!

Till then...Have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!

Super easy fall and Thanksgiving

I'm not going to lie...I am just not feeling the fall slash Thanksgiving cookies this year.  Now, don't get me wrong, I have seen some super cute, new ideas this year, but for whatever reason, I am just not in the mood to create them.  I did this plate, just so I could share on my blog.  They are completely no-brainers and although, yes, I think they turned out fine...they don't really have the "wow" factor.

Once again, Kelli's work crew reaped the benefits...she took them to work so that they would be "gobbled" up...pun intended!

Anyhoo...

See?  Nothing special, but super easy!  I did "marbling" on the leaves and then when they were dry, mixed up some gold Lustre Dust (with vodka...no worries, it evaporates and you never taste it) and "splattered" it on the cookies.  Sadly, you can not see it in the picture...but trust me it is there!  It does add a nice sheen to the cookie.

The turkey was an oval scallop that I cut the bottom off of and his torso is a Royal Icing Transfer.  Easy, peasy!

I say, let's move on to Christmas...what do you think.  Believe it or not...I will be working on my first ones (other than my little Grinch, of course) TODAY!  Crazy, right?!

I have been a busy little "elf", creating new things for my holiday decorating this year!  Oh, and speaking of elves...what do you think of this?

I saw this at Kirklands and fell in LOVE!  It really made me LOL!  I mean seriously...how great would it be to have a little elf come decorate your tree (my least favorite part of decorating...don't judge!)?

Sure...I could have bought them, but what fun would that be (and at about $12 for each leg, kind of ridiculous, right?)  Hey, I'm cheap when it comes to this sort of thing, what can I say?!   Be sure to check back in and see my version!

Till then...

A few cookies and a little complaint!

Let's just get that complaint out of the way first! Just who's idea was it to change the hours of Black Friday? I mean yes, I am an early bird (so much so that most think I need intervention) so getting up at 3:30 a.m. to go shopping is really no big deal. So, let's stop right there and address that elephant in the room...what are your thoughts on Black Friday? I mean sure, I love a good deal, and there are plenty of them on that day, but now it seems that there are good deals EVERYDAY! Call me sick, but I enjoy the frenzy and if I get a good deal at the same time, that is just an added bonus! This is the day that truly kicks off the holiday season, in my opinion!

So, let's get back to that complaint...who decided that starting Black Friday at midnight was a good idea? Seriously people, 12:00 MIDNIGHT?...why not just make it 3:00 in the afternoon on Thanksgiving, because that is when a lot of crazy people (not me) will be getting in line for all those great deals! Now, because I am a self proclaimed early bird, I am definitely NOT a night owl...so going out at night to go shopping is not a viable option for me! I should boycott it completely and stay home, but let's be honest, I won't...so I will be going about my usual routine and getting up at 3:30, to be at the stores by about 4:00 a.m.  Who's with me?!

'Nuff said on that topic!

I must confess...I have not made any Thanksgiving cookies this year...crazy, huh?  I did think about it, but knew that it would be that many more cookies that we would be consuming around here, and who needs that?  It is for that reason that I am sharing some that I have made in the past...if you were around last year, then I will refresh your memory...if you were not, then we will just pretend that I am posting them for the first time!

Thanks for stopping by...tomorrow I hope to have an ABC Project to share.

There's a skinny girl who lives inside of me that's screaming to get out...I can usually shut her up with cookies!
