Vintage Halloween

Since I am relatively new to this cookie decorating thing, I find a lot of things out by "trial and error". I am still learning the ins and outs of edible images and while these cookies did not really turn out that bad, I was not all that happy with them. No big deal, they were just practice anyway. First off, I do not have a rectangle cookie cutter (go figure, right?!) so I had to handcut, seems pretty easy, right?...not so much! I swear they did not look this lopsided before I baked them!

In my own defense, I was using leftover icings and although they are Halloween colors, they were not the ones I would have used had these cookies had been anything but practice. I also wanted to see the difference in adhering the image both on wet icing and then on dry icing. The wet technique speaks for itself, the dry is just done by applying Karo Syrup to back of the image with a brush and laying it on the dried iced cookie. It is sort of hard to tell by the picture, but I sort of feel that the image appears brighter when done with the syrup (upper left cookie). Phewwww...still with me?!

After all is said and done, I love playing with the edible images and think the possibilities are endless!

Happy Baking!

There's a skinny girl who lives inside of me that's screaming to get out...I can usually shut her up with cookies!
