I LOVE a good deal...I mean, who doesn't, right?
So, the other day I was stalking our local Restore for some shutters (I still want to make a headboard using them). No such luck...but I did find this little thing sitting there with no price on it.
So I asked the lady if it was sold because it didn't have a price and she asked me if I meant the one with the damage on the top...yep, that would be the one! She said nope, it's $5 and I said SOLD! Sure she needs a little work, but I definitely see her potential...can you?! Probably not, but I can tell you that I already have the top completely sanded, have added another cute little "postage" mark (similar to my coffee table seen here) and have restained it and I am now in the process of putting several coats of Poly on top!
I went with a different shade of stain this time and it is VERY dark...so much so, that you can barely see my postmark. That's okay, I actually like the subtle look of it. Now my question is, what color should I paint the bottom? I was contemplating the same color turquoise that I used on that coffee table, but I am not sure how it will look with the darker top. I am open for suggestions!
I am also still working on Halloween goodies...here is a little sneak peek!
Whatcha' think...any guesses?
I'm off to an Estate Sale with my daughter and her friend this morning. Looks like it's going to be a good one. I will report back with all of my fun findings next week!
Till then...Happy Baking (or making)!
There's a skinny girl who lives inside of me that's screaming to get out...I can usually shut her up with cookies!

You can always see the beauty in any piece! I wish I had that talent. If the top is really dark I would consider a pale distressed yellow, but I love yellow.
What a great deal!!! I'm sure it's gonna look fantastic.
Hmm, the sneak peak? Is it s serving tray? a wreath? Can't wait to see!LOL
can't wait to see your shutter headboard.....that is after you find them and craft it.lol.
i think that you might be making a tulle wreath??? i guess we will see!
Girl, how do you always find the stuff that only a mother could love?! Seriously, I do NOT see what you plan to do with this thing, which always makes it so fun for me to see what you finally do. Wish I had your eye. It looks to me like Ms. Taylor is going to be a Harlequin - am I right?!! If so, will Thomas be a Court Jester?!! That's my guess!!
How about red and turquoise on the little table and put it with the play kitchen :D
I still have major envy for that kitchen, but I have never seen a piece to purchase for one, like the one you found.
I have no idea what the Halloween piece is, and I am dying to know!!!! Can't wait for the big reveal! I LOVE anything with tulle.
