Wrong! This sale was all about the feet! TOMS to be exact! For those of you that may not be aware (and I can think of probably two right off the top of my head) of the story of Toms, I will tell you. I know you have seen them...they basically look like this:
The great thing about Toms is that for every pair sold, they DONATE a pair of children's shoes for kids in need, all over the world. Don't get me wrong, it is an awesome concept, but don't think good ol' Tom is doing all the work himself...these shoes are not cheap, so I like to think I am helping him out. I would say the average cost for a women's pair of Toms is around $45, kids, around $30!
Anyhoo, now back to my sale. Melissa read on Facebook, via an acquaintance, about a sale huge Toms warehouse sale that they were having in Tempe. Ummm, hello...how did I not know about this?! It was a 4 day sale...we found out in time to go the last day! I was torn...was it worth going on the last day...what could possibly be left?! Obviously, Melissa could not go...she is in Denver, so Kelli and I decided that since we didn't have anything better to do, we would drive over.
We had just enough time to jump in the shower (total waste of time...more about that later) and head over...it started at 10:00. By the time we got there (just before 10) the line was already LONG! Let's not forget...this is peak summer in AZ...it was probably already 95 degrees! Kelli dropped me to get in line and she went to park.
We laughed...the lines inside were like those at Disneyland. You know the ones...they wind up and down so it doesn't appear that they are that long? In their defense...these did move much faster than Disneyland...and they were giving out cold bottles of water!
So now we are inside...a big, un-airconditioned warehouse. But we were not alone...this is what we saw:
Yep, as far as you could see...boxes of Toms, and people rummaging through them!
It did not take us long...Kelli, Melissa and I wore 7.5, so that was pretty easy. We hit the "tiny's first and picked some up for Taylor and Tatum. The thing about Toms...the smaller they get, the cuter they are...so Nana could not resist buying them a "few" pairs.
This is what you would see standing in line and walking around the warehouse. Those two bags belonged to a lady in front of us!
Here are boxes that are not even opened yet:
Toms' people assured us that every style that was available, was already out. Let's not forget that this was the LAST day of a four day sale!
More crazy people:
This is what I bought, minus one pair of red glitter that I bought for Kelli. If you are wondering, the duplicate is a pair that I picked up for Melissa!
Without question women's 7.5 were the most popular size...duh, therefore less to choose from, but we thought these black and silver ones were fun! Just between you and me...I would have probably bought more for all of us, if they would have had the sizes we needed. I bought 8 pair...my total with tax, $113...not bad!
It was NUTS, kind of like a Black Friday...but I am happy to report, we there and back in about two hours! We were sweaty (hence the reason the shower was a waste of time) but all in all, it was a fun outing! We sort of thrive on this type of thing...crazy, I know!
Be back in a day or two to share some cookies and my latest Savers' find!
Till then...
