My trip to Denver!

Before I get too far into the details of my trip, I would like to tell you about a little interview that I was recently asked to do.  Melissa, from the blog "Simply Sweets by Honeybee", does a weekly feature called, "Sweet Talk", where she interviews fellow cookiers.  Melissa herself, is a very talented cookie/cake maker and I was very flattered when she asked if I would be willing to be interviewed.  If you have the time, I hope you will pop over to her blog and check it out!

Thanks again, Melissa, for asking me to participate!

Now we will switch gears and talk about another Melissa...mine!  I just returned home yesterday after spending 5 days in Denver.  The weather was perfect...a little chilly in the evenings/mornings, but the days hovered around 75-80 degrees!

Thomas, my grandson, told me that we didn't get to do anything "fun" on this trip.  I guess that is all how you look at it because Melissa and I had a lot of fun working on "projects".  Her neighbor had seen the clock that I made her and wondered if I could help them make one for her...this is what we came up with:

Using the same materials that I used on my clock, we were able to complete this in a little more than an afternoon!  I walked them through it and they did all the work!  Love how she put her name in the middle.  Check...project completed!

Next...I think Melissa gets her love of Halloween decorating from me...when I sent her a picture of this sign that I pinned on Pinterest, we decided we would make one while I was there!

Here is our, much simpler version:

We started with a mail box post that we purchased from Home Depot.  We made the sign out of the same fencing we used for the clock only the boards were the skinnier ones.  Melissa chose her fonts and created a stencil using her Cameo...a little Minwax Gray Stain and some cheap chain/hooks and VOILA!  All she has to do is attach her birds on the top (we propped them up there, but you can see one "died" and is laying on the ground) and stick it in the ground.  We love how it turned out!

Surprisingly, we did not step foot in one thrift store or stop by any garage sales...which we usually always do!  We did find time to do some "regular" shopping, and even timed it perfectly to go to another Toms Warehouse sale!  I was able to see Thomas play flag football and Taylor play soccer...she even score TWO goals, "whoop, whoop"!

Other than that,  I guess "fun" is all in the eye of the beholder, because Melissa and I had a great time!

Till next time...
