Beach themed cookies...

...part 2!  If you were around a couple of months ago, you may remember these beach theme cookies that I posted:

If you remember correctly, I told you that I  learned this design by watching a video by Marilyn from Montreal Confections...she does some AMAZING tutorials!  I have watched every one of her cookie videos!  I also told you that I would be making similar for my nephew's wedding in August.

Still with me?

Now...skip forward to present when I spotted these cookies on Pinterest:

My original plan instantly went right out the window!  These cookies were made by Michelle from Make me Cake Me...stinkin' cute, right?!

The wheels started turning...

First of all, I LOVE the idea of doing this little beach theme scene (say that 3 times fast) on a heart shape cookie for a wedding.  Can I just say "brilliant"!

Second...I was having a hard time coming up with a way to make the seashells shown on my first cookie, so that they wouldn't melt, since the wedding was going to be outside.  I started using fondant, but I needed something that was going to really "firm up" since I was transporting these cookies on the plane!

I finally decide on these that were made with candy melts, but I am sure I don't even have to tell you what is wrong with that idea!  But I was going to have to risk it since I could not come up with something better.

Now, back to that adorable cookie!  Those flip flops were so cute sitting on the "beach" and they were a no-brainer.  I could do Royal Icing Transfers...they are pretty durable on the cookie and they won't melt!

But I didn't stop there!  Nope...the wheels were still turning!  After all...there were two people getting married, so what could be better than one pair of flip flops on the beach?

Yep...TWO pairs of flip flops!  Of course I had to make one pair slightly bigger, right?!  It's all about the details!  These cookies are so fun to make...I love how the scene comes together as you do each step, one at a time!

Now...this is where you come in.  If you look at the two top cookies in this photo:

...you will see that the water looks a little different than the bottom two.  That is because I used the airbrush on those.  What do you think...do you like them plain (below) or is it worth the extra effort (and mess) to use the airbrush?!  It really is one of those things that if it doesn't pack a big enough "punch", then it is not worth making the mess!  Please give me your honest opinion!

How about one more look:

That's it for me!  Till next time...

These are too, too cute! If my opinion is worth anything, I actually prefer the bottom two cookies - the ones that aren't airbrushed. Both versions are beautiful but I'd go with the easier, less messy version.

These cookies are "right up my alley" since I am a beach gal. They are so cute! You amaze me with your talent and attention to detail.

I love these cookies! Great idea to do his & her flip flops. I think the airbrush makes the water look a little more realistic but if you had not shown both & I just saw the cookie without the airbrush I would say it's beautiful. I know what a hassle an airbrush can be so I would say don't bother.

Las dos estan preciosas, pero me gusta más la que has hecho sin aerógrafo.

Your cookies look fantastic and I'm so flattered that you thought mine were worthy of re-creating! The pair of flip-flops is perfect for a wedding and for what its worth, I actually prefer the non-airbrushed cookies. I think they already have a lot going on and less mess is always preferably! :)

My honest opinion is that I prefer the nonairbrushed ocean :).

And now a comment, if we have a wedding someday, you do realize that I will be flying you out, so that you can transport cookies with you, right? :D
