My "journey" and that little tip I promised!

Okay, so it is day three of my Weight Watcher's adventure and I mention this because typically, "day three", is usually my biggest struggle for some reason. WW is not really new to me...I am a lifetime member, which in case you didn't know, means that I reached my goal weight and maintained it for at least 6 weeks and I actually did that on my 40th birthday. Well, now I am old older and once again I find myself attending meetings and calculating food points. It is a new program now and I have to say, I am quite satisfied...of course the real test will be when I weigh in next Monday!

Back in the day, when I actually did various paper crafts, I had a "thing"! Well, let's be honest, I had two "things", one was buttons...all shapes, all sizes, all themes! The other was ribbon...all shapes, all sizes and all themes!

Now, let's jump ahead to cookie decorating...it would appear that I have a new "thing" for these:

Not such a big deal, right? Well, it is if you never actually USE them! It is just so fun to see them strategically placed at all the craft stores. The latest of course was the Valentine's Day section, looking too stinkin' cute to pass up...so of course I buy them, only to come home and throw them in a tub, with the rest of the "too cute to pass up" decorations.

I did recently solve that problem, however. Remember that garage sale we had a couple of weeks ago? Well, I traded two pair of shoes to my daughter (they were very cute shoes and practically like brand new...and yes, I would have given them to her anyway) for a spice rack! I didn't need it for spices, but it worked PERFECTLY for this:

The only problem I can see is that it holds the exact amount of little decorations that I had...so now I will have to restrain myself when the next holiday comes around!

So now, if you are still with me...that little "tip" I promised!
Are you familiar with Sanding Sugar? If you buy it at an actual cake shop it looks like this:

Now don't get too excited...I found out that it does not usually come in EVERY color, but that is easily solved and all you really need is this:

And these:

It takes a little time, but you will save a little money and a LOT OF SPACE by just buying white Sanding Sugar and coloring your own! Not to mention the fact that you can custom "color" to the exact shade that you need! Not to mention the fact that these tubs will last you forever...a little sanding sugar goes a LONG WAY! Personally, I don't think you can beat AmeriColor Food Coloring, but you can use any food coloring to accomplish the same thing!

Till next time...Happy Baking!

There's a skinny girl who lives inside of me that's screaming to get out...I can usually shut her up with cookies!

good luck on your WW journey. I'm a former lifetime member too who has fallen off the wagon. I got back on over the holidays with P90X and have been going string for 8 weeks now.

anyway, thanks for the tip on coloring the sanding sugar. I need brown to make some "dirt" for my son's b-day cake and didn't find anything brown at M's. I'll color my own mr maybe try a little brown sugar.
