I'm baaaaack...

...and how about that, it was less than a week, even!

Short and sweet cuz' I got cookies to do!  These are a few I have done recently!

Cute little ladybugs that were done a little differently, thanks to SSB's tutorial!

And all packaged up in these cute BRP basket boxes...love them!  Such a cute presentation, I think, anyway!

Four dozen of these spa cookies...kind of fun, huh?

One dozen chubby #2 pencils!

And because I had some cookie order down time...I made these little Emoji's!  I'm addicted to these little guys...the Emoji's not the cookies...although they are pretty stinkin' cute as a cookie, don't ya think?!  I did an Instagram giveaway for these!

A couple of weeks ago I made this dessert from a recipe I found on Pinterest.  

When I read the words "best blueberry cobbler ever and only four ingredients", I was MORE than intrigued!  If I am being honest, I can't even really tell you how good it was myself...I'm dieting and I did not even taste it!  I made this for Kelli's girl's night...but from what I'm told, it was da bomb!  And so stinkin' easy!  Here is the direct link Brown Butter Blueberry Cobbler.  

To be honest, I had never heard of actually browning butter for a recipe, but after doing it, I do feel that it was important element to the recipe.  You could really smell the yummy buttery goodness...and that was before it was even baked!  Seriously...the easiest recipe on the planet...you're welcome!

I was a little surprised...

...at how far I had to go back to find my last cookies that I posted.  Bad blogger!

Anyhoo...here are just a few that I have done since I actually last shared cookies!

Some simple sailboats!

The "ABC" in this set was inspired by Pam of Cookie Crazie...cute idea, right?!  I did quite a few teacher gift boxes with this design!

For those of you that don't know...this is "Sparky", the ASU mascot.  When I purchased this cutter, I bought it for it's original purpose...a shark's head ( picture this cookie upside down and then you will see it!).  When Kelli saw the cutter, she thought it was for Sparky, so what's a cookier to do...make it happen!  Kudos the her for coming up with the idea...it will be a huge hit in these parts!

Speaking of Kelli...one of the girls in her "Bacholor Night" group, is having a baby.  They decided finale night should have a little baby shower theme.  Done!

And last but not least...who can forget Strawberry Shortcake?!  She was around when my kids were little...it's nice to see some things never go out of style!

A few cookies and a quick "flip"!

I will start with the quick flip.  Remember the chairs that I purchased from Savers a week or so ago?  Let me remind you:

A little on the rough side, but you might also remember what I paid for them...$12.  For four chairs...what the what?

I purchased them with the intention of redoing them and selling them.  While I was contemplating how I wanted to do them, I got another idea.  Maybe I would save myself a little time, money and sweat equity (let's not forget...temps are still around 110 degrees here) and just try selling them on Craigslist in "as is" condition!

I started a little high, willing to negotiate.  No bites...so after a few days, I dropped the price.  No bites...so I dropped the price a little more.  Still no bites...well, this is not working at all like I had planned!

Deciding that this was a sign that I just needed to redo the chairs myself, I headed to JoAnns to look for some fabric inspiration!  I found some really cool fabric, sent pics to my girls for their opinions (it was a bold fabric, but I loved it) and got two thumbs up.  I would have bought the fabric right then, but I knew that Home Dec. fabrics were going to be 60% on Sunday, so I waited.  Apparently, that was another "sign"!

What was waiting for me in my "inbox" when I got home?!  Yep, an email...someone finally wanted the chairs.  I was torn...now that I knew what I wanted to do with them...should I still sell them?  **sigh**  My heart said no...my head said...yep, make your hubby super happy by moving something OUT of the garage, instead of IN.

I ended up making just under $75 profit...not bad for no more work than hauling them home!  I still feel that she got a good deal...yes, mine was definitely better, but she really wanted those chairs, so everyone wins!  I have to say...I was a little sorry to see them go...

Now for some cookies!

I don't know about your neck of the woods, but here in AZ, school has already started!  Some have already been in over a week and the rest started Monday.  Corie wanted a special little box of cookies for her daughter, Camdyn, who was starting kindergarten!  This is what I came up with:

And of course it never hurts to bring your new teacher an apple on the first day!

Cookies and another ABC Project!

So, a while back you might remember that I posted a picture of this little table that I bought:

This is the table that had been at Savers the week before, but I had passed on it.  Melissa insisted that I needed it and since it WAS still there a week later, I decided it was meant to be.  After all, it was actual wood (or so I thought...more to come on that) and it was only $6...can't go wrong, right?!  You probably can't tell from the picture, but the top is square.

I was anxious to start on this project so facing the 100+ temps in my garage, I began sanding the top.  I wanted to take it down to bare wood.  After sweating off a good two pounds, this is what I was left with:

 

Ooops!  Apparently, there was a piece of wood veneer over a piece of ply wood, and me, in my overzealous state...I sanded right through it!  Crap!  I probably could have worked with the other side of the board, but it had holes from screwing it on the base and at this point, I was over it!  So, off to Home Depot I go.

I had to find something that was not to pricey to use as a table top!  And then, the clouds opened up (okay, so the sky was already blue) and the angels began to sing (okay, it was someone in the lumber department cutting wood) and I spotted these pine "disc" type thingy's.  They had three sizes and the middle one was on clearance for $13...sure it was a little more than I wanted to spend, but it solved my problem so I didn't care!

I also had a light bulb moment (I'm tellin' you, my mind was busy that day!).  I have been wanting to make one of those clock face tables for a long time...they are all over blogland.  This was going to work perfectly for that idea.  I went home and the first thing I did was go to my new favorite vintage image source, Graphique, and picked out a clock face to use.  Since the one I chose had an Eiffel Tower image in the middle, I omitted it because I was going to put clock hands in it's place.

I printed the image out and took it to Fed Ex Office and had it enlarged to fit my tabletop.  I then used graphite paper and a pen to put the image on the wood.  Then, if you remember my coffee table, you will also remember how I filled in the outlines with a good ol' Sharpie...I did the same thing for this project.  I used my new Silhouette to make the clock hands and traced them on the table as well.  Stained it, topped it with several coats of Polyurethane and VOILA...the top was finished!

I cleaned the table base with TSP, did a quick, rough sanding and painted over the original wood stain with Valspar's, "Cream in my Coffee" (I loved the color, but I think I loved the name even more).  Gave it a quick distressing and it was done!

 Whatch'a think?  I love how it turned out and can't wait to make another one...just gotta find that perfect table...perhaps a coffee table this time!


Now for all you cookier's out there, here are some that I made for an order last week!  Monica not only wanted to send her own kids some cookies to celebrate school starting, but send some to her nieces and nephew's as well...what a nice Aunt!  There were three of these boxes, total.

Graduation Cookies!

First and foremost, thank you to all that left the sweet comments about my Maxie...they were truly comforting!

The ending of the school year comes early here in AZ...and believe it or not, most graduations have come and gone! I had to make a cookie bouquet for a client...the gift box is for a friend's son. Same basic design, different school colors!

Coming later this week...my second chair reveal, a cute little table redo and another cookie bouquet!

School Daze

This is a slight blast from the past! These cookies were actually made as school "end of the year" gifts for my grandson's preschool teachers (see how honest I am, I did not even have to tell you that). I have to remind myself that in most states school is just starting...for us here in AZ, it has been in for over a month. I think these would make a great "hello teacher" gift as well!



Anyhoo, the "cookie pops" were put into teacher coffee mugs, but sadly they were out the door before I remembered to snap a picture of the finished arrangement! Need I say, I think they turned out super cute!



Yep, that is a little worm coming out of the apple!
