Havin' a "ball"...

...with my new jar cookie cutter!  You probably recall the new cutters (scroll down) that I purchased a while back.  I really could not wait to create something with the mason jar and I cannot lie...I was totally inspired to purchase that cutter by something that I saw on Pinterest.  This "pin" to be exact:

I mean seriously, is this not the cutest, ever?!  And this is where I will insert my "disclaimer"...the writing on these cookies are perfect...mine, not so much!  Writing on cookies continues to be my biggest nemesis...even with my KopyKake, I struggle, but whatev's!

Here is what I came up with:

Overall, I was quite pleased with the outcome.  I was off a bit on the color of the jar...I was going for a vintage color and it came out slightly too dark, but I can live with it!  I am not sure how the original designer's flowers were done, it appears that she made little "loops" for the pedals.  I used the same technique that I do to do brush embroidery flowers...just making "dots" and smooshing them down with a paint brush.

Then I decided to kick it up a notch and give the flowers a little shine!  Months back I had purchased a new airbrush system and had yet to try it out.  It was kind of like when I bought my miter saw...took me forever to get the nerve to use that for the first time too!  

Instead of using regular color in the airbrush, I opted to use sheen...pearl sheen, to be exact!  Love this stuff...if you remember, I used the Wilton's Pearl Sheen out of the can on my Wedding corset cookies:

See that subtle shine?  Love it!

If you look closely, you can see it on the flowers, but the picture does not do them justice!

Now that I finally got the nerve to power up my airbrush, I might have to use it more often!  How about one more look:

Whatcha' think?  I made these just for fun...wish I knew someone that was having a birthday or needed a flower "pick me up"...instead I am sending them to work with Kelli!

Gingham check and brush embroidery!

Seriously...who doesn't love gingham check? I did not come up with this technique but when I saw them on Glorious Treats, I knew I had to give them a try!  I decided to kick it up a notch and add the brush embroidery flower technique, which is also not my original idea, but I have done them several times in the past.  I made my gingham template with my Silhouette and it worked beautifully! 

Combine the two and this is what you come up with!

I know it is not officially spring yet...

...but with temperatures creeping into the mid 80's here in AZ, it's that time of year in my book!  I could not resist these cute little watering containers that Target had in the dollar spot (and by "dollar spot", I mean the section that is actually $2.50).  I knew they would make the perfect container for a spring cookie bouquet.  They did not disappoint!

Sadly, I did not have anyone to actually give this bouquet to, so it was dismantled, the sticks were removed and the cookies went to my grandkids and niece.  Yep, when I get bored, I tend to make cookies just for fun!  Usually family members reap the benefits!

Cookie craziness!

It seems I can go weeks without an order and then, bam....everyone wants cookies at the same time. This is what the last week produced in the way of cookies:

dRE ordered this box for her niece, Lolli for Valentine's Day...that cute little "logo" cookie in the middle was designed by dRE (the uber talented girl that also designed all my blog goodies!) especially for her niece...she sent me the image and I printed on edible paper with edible ink.  Cute, huh?

This box was also ordered by dRE for her Mom...love those sexy little corsets and lovebugs!

My bff, Karolyn, ordered some hearts for her monthly "Wining with Friends" get together (and yes, it THAT kind of wine!  There were 2 dozen in all...hope they enjoyed them!

Next on the list were 6-year old Malia's birthday cookies...how cute are these flowers that her and her Mom designed?  Happy Birthday, Malia!

And last but certainly not least...were these cute little lovebugs on a stick for my Taylor's, Valentine's Day party which is being held today.  She is attaching them to paper hearts that Melissa cut out using her new Cameo.

Ladybugs and Flowers...

...that is what Lucy, the winner of my recent giveaway, wanted as her cookies! I decided to go a little bold this time, and outline everything in black! I think it definitely makes all the colors "pop", which I love...what do you think?

I was very disappointed to hear that 3 of the cookies broke...my track record of late, has not been very good!  Up until recently, I had mailed several boxes of cookies without any casualties...it is definitely one of the "cons" about the whole shipping process in general.  I pack them as well as I can, mark the box "Fragile" and still it happens.  Anyhoo, I do know that even though they break, they still taste the same, and from what I understand, Lucy did enjoy her cookies!

For those of you that don't know, I am a self proclaimed  HGTV freak!  I love this channel.  Whenever there is nothing on TV (and sometimes even when there is), I can always count on HGTV to give me a designing tip or two!  One of my favorite people to watch is Sarah Richardson, I love listening to her cute Canadian accent...and her sidekick Tommy is a hoot!  She has had several different shows and the most current is "Sarah 101"...the other day they were redoing a "box kitchen" (all items purchased and no custom work, for you novices, lol) and this was one of the design elements:

I instantly fell in love and decided this must go in my craftroom...it is time for a clock change!  If I had already purchased that Silhouette that I keep saying I am going to buy, I could probably do this myself...but I haven't so I had to track down someone who would do it for me.  My go-to wall vinyl people are Dali Decals.  They have several, really cool premade designs to choose from, but they will also custom design just about anything you want.  This what they have come up with:

Whatch'a think?  Pretty cool, huh?  I don't have to use the circle in the middle, but it will probably help with the placement of the numbers!  I am just deciding on size right now.  Can't wait to make it happen, I LOVE this idea!

I am working on a good size order for Qwest today...70 cupcakes and ice creams, better get busy!

Brush Embroidery Cookies

Before we start "ooooing and awwwing" over any cookies (haha, just kidding) I have a few things to mention...

1.  Still lots of time to enter my giveaway, but a little reminder to those that get two chances to win...you must leave two separate comments, otherwise I (random.org) cannot count them as such.  Go ahead, do it now...I'll wait!

2.  I need to clarify about the Starbucks "wanna-be" cookies...I did not purchase the edible images from Starbucks.  I would not advise going into said Starbucks and asking if you can buy some...they will probably look at you like you have two heads and not have a clue as to what you are talking about.  I printed them myself with a printer purchased exclusively to print such labels using edible ink and paper...hence making them completely edible.

3.  I have updated my ETSY shop with aprons and I will be adding even more soon.  Since I have been quite lazy about doing that, I am offering FREE SHIPPING to all my blogging peeps!  Just use the code freshcutflours1 at checkout...offer good through July 31st!

These cookies were made using the "Brush Embroidery" technique...I did not come up with this idea, just "borrowed" it from other's.  This is only about the second time I have done this and if you are wondering why I chose this color palette, it's simple...it is what I had on hand and since these were just practice, I went with it!  Having said that, I kind of like this design done in the bold colors.  They are also gorgeous done in pastels as well.

Whatch'a think?  They are definitely a "work in progress", but I'm learning!  Wouldn't these cookies be cute served at an afternoon "Tea Party" or luncheon?

No orders on the books, so I don't know when I will be showing you more cookies!  It's kind of a rainy day here in AZ, so I may have to whip up a few more aprons!

Hope you all had a great weekend! I am going to make this quick and easy! A couple of Cookie Bouquets that I made for a client last week. She was actually the winner of the recent cookie bouquet that I did for a school fundraiser. Included with the original bouquet, she also received a gift certificate for a free dozen cookies of her choice.

Her granddaughter was graduating from the 8th grade so she decided on a bouquet of flowers and butterflies.  Not wanting to leave out Zoe's brother, Zac...she decided to get him a sports themed bouquet as well!

Flowers and Owls!

As I have stated before, sometimes I bake just to bake! This would be one of those times...sort of! I have a wonderful "cyber" friend that has had sort of a rough week, so what better way to cheer her up than to send her some cookies! I also promised someone samples of my cookies so if you happen to be reading my blog today girls...check your mail boxes!

When this "no special occasion" baking occurs, I usually rummage through my 400+ cookie cutters and make whatever jumps out at me. This time though, I knew I wanted to make owls....hmmmmm, what goes with owls? Flowers were the only thing that I could think of so flowers it was! Even my color palette was not typical of owl colors but I already had this "pink" for some flamingos that I had made earlier in the week (sorry no pic of those) so I added more icing and paired it with brown...I actually love the outcome!

This is what a little extra dough and a lot of extra time will get ya! I thought I would share a little of this beautiful spring weather we have had (yes, I am aware that it is not quite spring....but our 80 degree temps suggest otherwise)! What says "spring" more than bees and flowers?!




If I were being completely honest, I will say that these looked much cuter "in my head" than they looked once they were done...but I know that my grand babies will love them...since they were both sick last week, it has been a while since they have had some of Nana's cookies so they should be thrilled!

Be sure to check back in the next couple of days for a little table I redid...I desperately needed a stand of some sort to put my TV on in my craft room. To say that this piece was a "little rustic" was putting it mildly, but I am happy to say it is the LAST piece of furniture needed to complete that room! Here is a little sneak peek of what it looked like before:

SPRING FLING!

First and foremost...thank you to all that have left such sweet comments about my little kitchen. All in all it was a VERY fun project and I encourage anyone to give it a try...trust me when I say, that if I can do it, anyone can!

I have had people ask me about the colors used on the kitchn. The red is Valspar "Bright Red" and the Turquoise is Valspar "Nautical". Please feel free to email me if you have any other questions that I may be able to answer!

Now, how about a few cookies? I recently had an order for 2 dozen spring cookies...good choice, right? Who couldn't use a little spring after what seems like to be a long winter. I was also told to do something "fun". These are a few of the cookies I came up with...I couldn't resist the little ladybugs, kind of cute, huh?

Ladybugs, Flowers and Footballs?!

This was my biggest challenge yet...120 cookies, all to be delivered at the same time. It probably seems like a strange combination since they were all going to the same company, but they were "incentives" and we had to consider the guys as well as the gals...so footballs it was! (Please excuse the poor photography!) I thought it would be more stressful than it was...glad I'm done though! Thanks, Rosemary!
